Malaysia's imports rose 18.8 per cent in January from a year earlier


According to data provided by the Malaysian Department of Statistics, Malaysia's total foreign trade in January 2024 was RM234.7 billion, up 13.3% year-on-year, of which exports were RM122.4 billion, up 8.7%; Imports of RM112.3 billion, up 18.8%. The top three export destinations were Singapore, China and the United States, with exports of RM17.4 billion, 13.9 billion and 13.5 billion, respectively, accounting for 14.2%, 11.3% and 11% of Malaysia's total exports in the same period.
